Ohio National
Guard observes
Native American
Heritage Month

COLUMBUS, Ohio (11/18/16) —More than 100 Ohio National Guard members and civilian employees gathered to learn about the history of Native American Indian culture during an assembly Nov. 18 at the Maj. Gen. Robert S. Beightler Armory. The program was part of the ongoing Ohio National Guard Leadership Development Series, which focuses on the role of diversity in the organization. Speakers included Dr. Robert L. Boggs, former Ohio Air National Guard chief of staff and author of “Honored Feathers of Wisdom,” and Dr. Christine Ballengee-Morris, program director for American Indian Studies at The Ohio State University.

Maj. Gen. Mark E. Bartman (left), Ohio adjutant general, presents a plaque of appreciation to Dr. Robert L. Boggs, deputy director, People and Culture Directorate, Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime, for speaking during the National American Indian Heritage Month program. Boggs is the author of "Honored Feathers of Wisdom," which examines the connection between Native American wisdom, leadership development and business survival.
