Singles at the Crossroads

Do your wonder what the Chaplain and Family Readiness Offices have been doing for our Single Service Members lately?

Well, we have the answer!  Building Strong Singles Retreats.  These single service member retreats are weekend retreats for unmarried service members.  The focus is developing healthy personal and relational habits and teaching life skills that help you navigate transitional times in your lives.

These retreats are fun and interactive - and a great way to meet new friends!  They are definitely not "death by power point."  Possible recreational activities during the retreat might include taking in a Major League Baseball Game, a beach outing on Lake Erie or dinner at Game Works or Dave and Busters.

Enrichment

Seminars

Marriage Enrichment Seminars are all about making good marriages better. PREP (Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program) is a comprehensive and well-respected divorce-prevention/marriage enhancing program. PREP is a skills and principles-building curriculum designed to help partners say what they need to say, get to the heart of issues, and increase their connection with each other.

PREP is education, not therapy. The PREP approach teaches couples the skills and principles they need to maintain a healthy and lasting relationship.

Training topics include: The Speaker-Listener Technique, Communication Danger Signs, Negative Communication, Anger, Safety, Filters and Expectations, Fun, Ground Rules, Forgiveness and much more. Relaxing time for you and your spouse even built into the weekend!

LINKS is the Advanced Marriage Enrichment Seminar designed to take a deeper look at marriage and focuses on relentlessly pursuing intimacy through a lifetime of continued discovery of one another. Couples who have already attended PREP (Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program) are encouraged to attend LINKS.

LINKS addresses the following goals:

Relentlessly Pursuing Intimacy: Deeply Knowing Your Partner •

Cultivating Trust: Maintaining a Positive Opinion of Your Partner •

Reciprocally Meeting Needs: The Basis of a Happy Marriage •

Resiliently Charting Your Course: Resilience through Crisis •

Romantically Renewing Your Union: Sexual Intimacy •

You are encouraged to attend PREP before LINKS but if scheduling conflicts exist, either retreat would be a great opportunity for you and your spouse.

Some Army and Air National Guard units or wings may allow you to attend in lieu of drill. Check with your unit or wing to coordinate this arrangement.
