THIS POSITION IS BEING ANNOUNCED IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE MERIT PROMOTION PROCEDURES AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT.  WEARING OF THE APPROPRIATE ARMY/AIR UNIFORM IS REQUIRED WHILE EMPLOYED IN THIS POSITION.   PERMANENT CHANGE OF DUTY STATION (PCS) FUNDS ARE NOT AVAILABLE.  DUE TO MANNING RESTRICTIONS, THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED WHEN MANNING AND FUNDING BECOME AVAILABLE.

 

DUTIES:  This position is located in the Medical Group at an Air National Guard Wing. The purpose of the position is to plan, schedule, execute, manage, and administer the installation-wide Industrial Hygiene/Bioenvironmental Engineering Program (IH/BEE), which includes occupational health/industrial hygiene, radiation safety, and environmental monitoring to maintain and promote the health and well-being of military and technician personnel. 

 

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:  Experience which has provided a basic knowledge of industrial hygiene, occupational health, radiological health and environmental protection.  Must be familiar with the methods used to ensure healthful working conditions are maintained and that the environment is not adversely affected by ANG operations.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: (GS-08) 1 Year equivalent to GS-07                                                      

1. Experience in anticipating, recognizing, evaluating and controlling work area processes, conditions and operations that may be hazardous to the health of employees and have an adverse affect on the environment.

2. Experience interpreting and applying various federal, State, DOD, USAF and ANG laws, regulations, policies and procedures as they relate to performing industrial hygiene surveys/evaluations.

3. Experience which has provided a familiarity of the job tasks of employees, the organization, structure and mission of the installation, in order to assist in providing a highly technical occupational health and environmental support program.

4. Experience in preparing written reports of findings, detailed survey and test area conditions such as: unusual work occurrences, types of samples collected, workplace layout, instrument readings and possible causes and corrective measures. 

5. Experience in oral communications, which require tact, courtesy and capacity for person-to-person work relationships.

6. Experience in the care and use of the various pieces of survey equipment used during survey/evaluations.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): GS-10

1. Skill identifying adverse health and environmental hazards.

2. Knowledge of Federal, State, DOD, USAF and ANG regulations.

3. Knowledge of organizational structure.

4. Skill in writing reports, detailing survey, test results and unusual work occurrences.

5. Oral communication skills.

6. Skills in use and maintenance of survey equipment.

                                                                    

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION:  NOTE: College Transcripts are required if you wish to use Education as a substitution for experience or if a degree is a requirement for the position.  A copy of the transcript must be submitted with the Job Application. Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 6 months of experience.  Courses must be directly related to the work of the position.
