9.   Selection will be made from those applicants determined best qualified in terms of experience, training and demonstrated performance ability. Concurrent announcements will be staffed against technician position description criteria.  Ensure all prior experience with inclusive dates is annotated in detail when applying.

 

10.   Pregnant females are eligible to apply for AGR tours.  Individuals selected for AGR tours must meet all applicable medical and physical requirements in accordance with AFI 48-123 prior to entering or initiating the tour.  If selected, they cannot be appointed and entered on active duty until the pregnancy period has expired.

                              

DUTIES: This position is located in the Operations Flight of a Base Communications Squadron. The purpose of this position is to serve as a base systems administrator to monitor the Local and Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN), including the planning, analysis, acquisition, design, development, implementation, quality assurance, configuration, installation, integration, maintenance testing, operational integrity, and/or management of networked systems for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats.

 

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:. Technical, analytical, supervisory, or administrative experience which has demonstrated the candidates ability to analyze problems of organization, workforce, information, requirements, etc. and provide systematic solutions and the ability to deal satisfactory with others. 

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  GS-11 - 36 months experience in which the applicant demonstrates:

1.  Experience in analyzing problems, gathering information, and recognizing solutions.

2.  Experience which demonstrates an applicant’s ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.

3.  Experience in analyzing and organizing work processes into plans for computer solutions.

4.  Experience in a computer related field performing such tasks as translating logical steps into language codes, computer console operations, and scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed.

5.  Experience which demonstrates the accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques.  Qualifying accomplishments involve the following:  Knowledge of the customary approaches, techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area; planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment; and adaptation of guidelines or precedents to the needs of an assignment.

 

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  GS-09 - 24 months experience in which the applicant demonstrates:

1.  Experience in analyzing problems, gathering information, and recognizing solutions.

2.  Experience which demonstrates an applicant’s ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.

3.  Experience in analyzing and organizing work processes into plans for computer solutions.

4.  Experience in a computer related field performing such tasks as translating logical steps into language codes, computer console operations, and scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):  GS-11

1.        Knowledge and experience with the different industry standard help desk programs. 

2.        Knowledge and experience with the industry standard databases applications, i.e. Microsoft, Access, Oracle and SQL.

3.        Knowledge and experience with web page development and design.

4.        Knowledge in the Air Force logistic and property management procedures and regulations, and the ability to manage using data bases.

5.        Knowledge and experience with the Air Force’s Information Technology training methods; Distant Training Technology Program (DTTP), Computer Based Training (CBT), Web Based Training (WBT) and Video teleconferencing (VTC).

6.        Knowledge and experience with supervisory responsibility.

7.        Knowledge of information technology and telecommunications programs as it relates to a Combat Communications Squadron.

 

  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):  GS-09

1.    Knowledge and experience with the different industry standard computer operating systems for both workstations and servers.  

2.    Knowledge and experience with Microsoft applications and operating systems.

3.    Knowledge and experience with industry standard security training and certifications such as CISSP, CSCA and security+.

4.    Knowledge and experience with the industry standard databases applications, i.e. Microsoft, Access and SQL.

5.    Knowledge of information technology security policies and practices in the federal government. Familiarity with AR 25-1, AR 25-2 required.

6.    Knowledge and experience with web reporting.

 

 *Must be certified IAW DOD 8570.01-M, Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, Clinger Cohen Act of 1996 and obtain Special Experience Identifier (SEI) 264, Information Assurance – Technical Level II (IAT II), IAW current AF directives.

Current full-time personnel and new hire will have 36 months to comply with 8570 mandates.

                                                          

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION:   NOTE: College Transcripts are required if you wish to use Education as a substitution for experience or if a degree is a requirement for the position.  An copy of the transcript must be submitted with the Job Application. Education must be directly related to the field of work. Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week for 6 months of experience).   Maximum credit is 6 months of specialized experience.
