8. Applicants are subject, but not required, to a personal interview, before a military board upon notification of time and place. Necessary travel will be at the expense of the individual. Inquiries concerning specific aspects of the duty position should be directed to the Selecting Official.
9. Selection will be made from those applicants determined best qualified in terms of experience, training and demonstrated performance ability. Concurrent announcements will be staffed against technician position description criteria. Ensure all prior experience with inclusive dates is annotated in detail when applying.
10. Pregnant females are eligible to apply for AGR tours. Individuals selected for AGR tours must meet all applicable medical and physical requirements in accordance with AFI 48-123 prior to entering or initiating the tour. If selected, they cannot be appointed and entered on active duty until the pregnancy period has expired.
DUTIES: This position is located in the Air National Guard Aviation Wing, Maintenance Group, Maintenance Squadron, Propulsion Element, (Jet Engine Intermediate Maintenance (JEIM) and the Hush House). The primary purpose of this position is to maintain, troubleshoot, remove, repair, install, certify, test and perform operational checks on the turboprop engines, propellars, and associated propulsion system components.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which demonstrates the applicant’s knowledge of aircraft engine parts and components and an understanding of general mechanical systems; knowledge of an skill in the use of the proper type and size of tools to perform assigned work.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: (WG-10) - 18 Months experience in which the applicant demonstrates:
1. Experience or education that provided knowledge of the theory of aircraft engine design and operation.
2. Experience utilizing reference material in troubleshooting aircraft engines.
3. Experience that provided knowledge of test equipment purposes and sequences, and the ability to solve specific engine problems.
4. Experience using measuring instruments to check engine parts for defects such as scales, checkers, gauges, etc.
5. Experience performing inspections of aircraft engines and determining the type and extent of repairs needed.
6. Experience in inspecting aircraft engines and components for compliance with technical publications.
7. Experience in compiling information to determine if certain components were consistently causes of malfunctions.
8. Experience in examining engine parts to determine if they should be exchanged, salvaged, or returned to use.
9. Experience that required the applicant to perform or supervise functions such as installation, repair, buildup, and modify aircraft engines.
10. Experience or training in disassembling aircraft engines in accordance with applicable directives.
11. Experience that demonstrates ability to recognize damaged parts and determines work procedures required to correct the malfunction.
12. Experience in assembling aircraft engines.
13. Experience in following applicable technical publication instructions to make prescribed changes to aircraft engines.
14. Experience in conducting tests on repaired aircraft engines and components to insure compliance with technical publications.
15. Experience performing final adjustments to aircraft engines to achieve correct engine operation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA’s): (WG-10)
1. Knowledge of aircraft engine parts and components and how they function.
2. Skill in the use and interpretation of schematic diagrams and other technical publications.
3. Ability to isolate engine problems by use of troubleshooting, test equipment, and instruments.
4. Ability to check aircraft engine components for cracks, dents, security of attachments, servicing, leakage, foreign matter, clearances, deformation, and proper safeties.
5. Ability to interpret inspection findings and determine the degree of corrective action.
6. Ability to inspect aircraft engines to determine operational status.
7. Ability to detect wear patterns of aircraft engines components.
8. Ability to determine if disassembled parts are reusable.
9. Ability to disassemble, repair, rework and modify aircraft engines and components in accordance with prescribed procedures in TMs and other directives.
10. Knowledge of aircraft engine disassembly practices.
11. Ability to determine repair procedures necessary to correct defective components.
12. Ability to assemble aircraft engines, adhering to prescribed procedures, torque valves, safety methods, and clearances.
13. Ability to modify aircraft engines according to technical directives.
14. Ability to conduct tests of repaired components.
15. Ability to adjust, align and calibrate aircraft engines and their components to achieve maximum operating efficiency consistent with design characteristics.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION: NOTE: College Transcripts are required if you wish to use Education as a substitution for experience or if a degree is a requirement for the position. An copy of the transcript must be submitted with the Job Application. Education must be directly related to the field of work. Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week for 6 months of experience). Maximum credit is 6 months of specialized experience.
