THIS POSITION IS BEING ANNOUNCED IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE MERIT PROMOTION PROCEDURES AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT.  WEARING OF THE APPROPRIATE ARMY/AIR UNIFORM IS REQUIRED WHILE EMPLOYED IN THIS POSITION.  PERMANENT CHANGE OF DUTY STATION (PCS) FUNDS ARE NOT AVAILABLE.  DUE TO MANNING RESTRICTIONS, THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED WHEN MANNING AND FUNDING BECOME AVAILABLE.

 

DUTIES: This position is located in the Sortie Generation Section of the Aircraft Generation Division within the Logistics Directorate of an Air National Guard Flying Wing.  Its purpose is to act as the crew chief with responsibility for directing the total maintenance effort on individually assigned aircraft.  The work involves the total maintenance of complex, high performance military aircraft, ranging from multi-purpose heavy, multi-engine transports to the most modern sophisticated fighters and bombers.  Fully responsible for providing detailed technical insight on individual aircraft’s level of Mission Capability (MC), then develops and recommends a comprehensive course of action to maintain the aircraft at Full Mission Capability (FMC).  All aircraft are fully integrated in and are part of the Total Force Mission of the United States Air Force.  This position is responsible to fully prepare assigned aircraft for Aerospace Expeditionary Force Wing (AEF/AEW) Operations around the world.


GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

 
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE :( WG-12) - 18 months experience which the applicant demonstrates the following:  
1. Experience in repairing, rebuilding, or overhauling aircraft systems and major components using the tools of the trade.
2.  Experience which demonstrates the skill to align, adjust and rig systems and controls after the replacement of parts, components and major repairs.
3.  Experience in operating a variety of measurement, test and diagnostic equipment utilized in troubleshooting and repair of aircraft.
4.  Experience in inspecting the full range of mechanical systems with the ability to analyze existing or foreseeing problems and recommend corrective action.
5.  Experience using a wide variety of technical publications to include complex schematics and specifications.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): (WG-12)
1.  Ability to do diversified work with tools and equipment, requiring extreme caution in maintaining close dimensions.
2.   Knowledge of aircraft components and maintenance procedures.
3.   Ability to diagnose trouble and determine remedy where overall knowledge of all systems of aircraft is required.
4.   Ability to inspect aircraft, determine mechanical deficiencies and analyze results.
5.   Ability to interpret instructional material, schematics and specifications for complex mechanical problems on assigned aircraft.

 

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION:  NOTE: College Transcripts are required if you wish to use Education as a substitution for experience or if a degree is a requirement for the position.  An copy of the transcript must be submitted with the Job Application. Education must be directly related to the field of work. Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week for 6 months of experience).   Maximum credit is 6 months of specialized experience.
