Selected applicants will be paid at the lowest rate of pay unless HRO determines a higher rate of pay is applicable.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL BE ASSIGNED TO A COMPATIBLE MILITARY POSITION IN AN APPROPRIATE UNIT OF ASSIGNMENT IN THE OHIO NATIONAL GUARD, AS SHOWN BELOW.

THIS POSITION IS BEING ANNOUNCED IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE MERIT PROMOTION PROCEDURES AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT.  WEARING OF THE APPROPRIATE ARMY/AIR UNIFORM IS REQUIRED WHILE EMPLOYED IN THIS POSITION.  THIS MAY BE A DEVELOPMENTAL POSITION. PROMOTION IS NOT GUARANTEED, NOR IS THE PROMISE OF PROMOTION IMPLIED.  PERMANENT CHANGE OF DUTY STATION (PCS) FUNDS ARE NOT AVAILABLE.  DUE TO MANNING RESTRICTIONS, THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED WHEN MANNING AND FUNDING BECOME AVAILABLE.

 

DUTIES:   The purpose of this position is to supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders and/or supervisors, in accomplishing the operations of a distinct organizational unit and to perform associated non-supervisory work.  The occupation and non-supervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Heavy Mobile Equipment mechanic, WG-5803-10. 

 

 GENERAL EXPERIENCES: Experience, education or training in the repair and operations of heavy mobile equipment.  Must be able to plan schedules and sequence of operations and instruct subordinates in work requirements and difficult operations/repairs.  Must be able to relate these into everyday instructions by which subordinate personnel are to accomplish work.    

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: (WS-10) - 36 months experience in which the applicant demonstrates the following:

1.        Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan and organize work assignments for a repair function.

2.        Experience which required the applicant to review work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines.

3.        Experience that provided knowledge of the various lines of work performed by the repair function and associated support organizations.

4.        Experience which demonstrates the ability to deal effectively with other people and gain their cooperation in achieving common goals.

5.        Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise through subordinate supervisors, or the potential to perform such duties as evidence by the ability to communicate, skill at applying human relations techniques, a knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and a knowledge of shop processes.

6.        Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): (WS-10)

1.        Ability to plan and organize the work of the assigned repair organization.

2.        Ability to meet deadlines.

3.        Knowledge of heavy mobile equipment repair functions.

4.        Ability to work with others.

5.        Ability to oversee and train subordinate supervisors, to deal objectively with workers and render sound supervisory decisions.

6.        Ability to devise new methods.

 

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION:  NOTE: College Transcripts are required if you wish to use Education as a substitution for experience or if a degree is a requirement for the position.  An copy of the transcript must be submitted with the Job Application. Education must be directly related to the field of work. Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week for 6 months of experience).   Maximum credit is 6 months of specialized experience.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  Candidates must posses a valid State driver’s license for the State in which they live or are principally employed.
