SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL BE ASSIGNED TO A COMPATIBLE MILITARY POSITION IN AN APPROPRIATE UNIT OF ASSIGNMENT IN THE OHIO NATIONAL GUARD, AS SHOWN BELOW.

THIS POSITION IS BEING ANNOUNCED IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE MERIT PROMOTION PROCEDURES AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT.  WEARING OF THE APPROPRIATE ARMY/AIR UNIFORM IS REQUIRED WHILE EMPLOYED IN THIS POSITION.  PERMANENT CHANGE OF DUTY STATION (PCS) FUNDS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. DUE TO MANNING RESTRICTIONS, THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED WHEN MANNING AND FUNDING BECOME AVAILABLE.

 

 DUTIES:  This position is located within a National Guard aircraft maintenance organization.  Its purpose is to perform either on- or off-equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integrated systems associated with the assigned aircraft and/or maintenance on automatic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigation systems.

 

GENERAL EXPERIENCES: Experience, education or training which demonstrates a knowledge of electronics principles involved in a number of applications such as radar, data processing and data display, as well as mechanical and hydraulic knowledge involved in operations of equipment such as control valves, gyros, turrets, mounts and mechanical computing devices.  

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: (WG-12) - 18 months experience in which the applicant demonstrates the following:

1. Experience in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronics to one or more complex integrated systems. 

2.  Work which required one to solve varied arithmetic problems, including computation of unstated values on drawing, requiring trigonometry and algebra. 

3.  Experience which required an individual to understand effects of malfunctions throughout interrelated units, such as, trace an apparent operating error in hydraulic controls of a gun mount back to the actual failure of a tactical computer yaw, pitch azimuth and velocity inputs.

4.  Experience in diagnosing and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic systems where knowledge of the entire system is necessary to interpret error data and trace back through a number of units of the system to locate deficiencies.

5.  Experience which required incumbent to interpret and apply drawing, schematics and diagrams for integrated electronic systems.

6.  Experience which required the use of hand tools, precision measuring and calibrating equipment.    

7.  Experience which required the use of highly complex testing equipment such as millivoltmeters, frequency meters, oscilloscopes, dial indicators, micrometers, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA’s): (WG-12)

1.  Knowledge of theory of electronics.

2.  Knowledge of algebra and basic trigonometric functions.

3.  Knowledge of electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems.

4.  Ability to locate and diagnose malfunctions in integrated electronic systems.

5.  Ability to interpret technical manuals, diagrams and schematics.

6.  Ability to use hand tools and precision measuring equipment.

7.  Skill in the use of diagnostic and testing equipment.

 

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION:  NOTE: College Transcripts are required if you wish to use Education as a substitution for experience or if a degree is a requirement for the position.  An copy of the transcript must be submitted with the Job Application. Education must be directly related to the field of work. Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week for 6 months of experience).   Maximum credit is 6 months of specialized experience.
