THIS POSITION IS BEING ANNOUNCED IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE MERIT PROMOTION PROCEDURES AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT. WEARING OF THE APPROPRIATE ARMY/AIR UNIFORM IS REQUIRED WHILE EMPLOYED IN THIS POSITION.
PERMANENT CHANGE OF DUTY STATION (PCS) FUNDS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. DUE TO MANNING RESTRICTIONS, THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED WHEN MANNING AND FUNDING BECOME AVAILABLE.
DUTIES: This position is located in the Plans and Resources Flight of a Base Communications Squadron. The purpose of this position is to assist the senior policy and planning specialist by performing the less complex tasks associated with the planning, development, management, and enforcement of approved ANG and local information technology (IT) and communications architecture. Sixty percent of the work performed involves Information Technology issues and systems with the remaining forty percent involving telecommunications specific issues and systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09 24 months experience in which the applicant demonstrates:
1. Experience in analyzing problems, gathering information, and recognizing solutions.
2. Experience which demonstrates an applicant’s ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
3. Experience in analyzing and organizing work processes into plans for computer solutions.
4. Experience in a computer related field performing such tasks as translating logical steps into language codes, computer console operations, and scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed.
5. Experience which demonstrates the accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques. Qualifying accomplishments involve the following: Knowledge of the customary approaches, techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area; planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment; and adaptation of guidelines or precedents to the needs of an assignment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): GS-09
1. Knowledge and experience with the different industry standard computer operating systems for both workstations and servers.
2. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft applications and operating systems.
3. Knowledge and experience with industry standard security training and certifications such as CISSP, CSCA and security+.
4. Knowledge and experience with the industry standard databases applications, i.e. Microsoft, Access and SQL.
5. Knowledge and experience with web reporting.
6. Knowledge and experience with forensic investigation of virus and intrusive attacks on computer networks.
7. Knowledge in the Army logistic and property management procedures and regulations, and the ability to manage using data bases.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:. Technical, analytical, supervisory, or administrative experience which has demonstrated the candidates ability to analyze problems of organization, workforce, information, requirements, etc. and provide systematic solutions and the ability to deal satisfactory with others.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION: NOTE: College Transcripts are required if you wish to use Education as a substitution for experience or if a degree is a requirement for the position. An copy of the transcript must be submitted with the Job Application. Education must be directly related to the field of work. Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week for 6 months of experience). Maximum credit is 6 months of specialized experience.
