Chief Master Sergeant Christopher E. Muncy 
State Command Chief

Chief Master Sergeant Christopher E. Muncy is the State Command Chief Master Sergeant for the Ohio National Guard and works directly for the Adjutant General for Ohio. The Ohio National Guard consists of over 15,000 Soldiers and Airmen. The Ohio Air National Guard consists of approximately 5000 personnel including four flying wings and eight support units that serve our communities, state, and nation for both homeland defense and federal missions.

Chief Muncy, a native of Ohio, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in October 1977 and entered the Ohio Air National Guard in 1979 with the 269th Combat Comm Squadron at Springfield. He has completed many tours and exercises in Puerto Rico, Honduras, Turkey and Korea. He moved to the 178th Communications Flight in 1995; in December 1995, he was the first COMSEC Manager for the 4400th Ops Squadron Taszar AB, Hungary for Operation Joint Endeavor (Bosnia): in 1997, he moved to the 251st Combat Comm Group as Chief of Current Operations. On Oct 6, 2001, Chief Muncy assumed the duties of Chief, US Air Forces in Europe Theater Aerospace Operations Support Center – A6 Current Ops, Ramstein Air Base, Germany for Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan). February 2003, he became the Chief, USAFE Liaison team to USCENTAF/C6 Combined Air Operations Center, Prince Sultan AB, Saudi Arabia for Operation Iraqi Freedom. In August 2004, Chief Muncy became the Ohio Command Chief. Chief Muncy is the Chairman of the Air National Guard’s Enlisted Field Advisory Council (EFAC) and teaches the Air National Guard’s Chief’s Executive Course.
