Children of Ohio service members enjoy week of activities
at Camp Kelleys Island

KELLEYS ISLAND, Ohio (08/11/17) — The Ohio Military Kids Camp Kelleys Island teen and youth camps took place Aug. 7-11 on Lake Erie, as children of Ohio service members participated in varied activities including canoeing, swimming, crafts and team building and watched military demonstrations. On Aug. 9, Ohio National Guard senior leaders and other VIPs flew in on a CH-47 Chinook helicopter to visit with and interact with campers. Operation: Military Kids started in Ohio in April 2005 and is administered through The Ohio State University Extension’s 4-H Youth Development Program, partnering with the USO and the Ohio National Guard Family Readiness and Warrior Support Program.

A contingent of Ohio National Guard senior leaders, elected officials and community leaders flew in on a CH-47 Chinook helicopter to visit and interact with campers Aug. 9, 2017, at Ohio Military Kids Camp Kelleys Island in Kelleys Island, Ohio. The annual weeklong camp is a partnership between The Ohio State University Extension’s 4-H Youth Development Program, the USO and the Ohio National Guard Family Readiness and Warrior Support Program.
