About 360 Soldiers from the Ohio National Guard's 1st Battalion, 148th Infantry Regiment, headquartered in Walbridge, are deploying overseas in support of both Operation Inherent Resolve (Jordan) and Operation Spartan Shield (United Arab Emirates).

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (01/11/17) — About 360 Soldiers from the Ohio National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 148th Infantry Regiment, headquartered in Walbridge, are deploying overseas in support of both Operation Inherent Resolve (Jordan) and Operation Spartan Shield (United Arab Emirates). The Soldiers, who were recognized during a call to duty ceremony Jan. 11 at the Bowling Green State University Stroh Center, said goodbye to friends and Family members in attendance. Before deploying to their overseas duty locations, the Soldiers will undergo mobilization training at Fort Bliss, Texas. While deployed, the unit’s primary mission will be conducting training operations with the Jordanian Armed Forces. Elements of the battalion have deployed six times prior since the beginning of the War on Terrorism. The battalion, or parts of it, has been mobilized in support of Operation Noble Eagle (2001), KFOR6A - Kosovo (2004), Operation Iraqi Freedom (2006), KFOR8 - Kosovo (2006), Operation Iraqi Freedom (2008) and Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan (2012).
