1-174th ADA Soldiers train in Guam during Exercise Forager 21

Soldiers with the 1-174th ADA traveled to Guam and Tinian to train during Forager 21, which tested participants’ ability to conduct strategic deployment and joint operational maneuver of forces into and across the Indo-Pacific Theater.

More than 400 Ohio National Guard members were activated at the time to provide humanitarian missions in support of COVID-19 relief efforts, continuing the Ohio National Guard’s long history of supporting humanitarian efforts throughout Ohio and the nation.

COVID-19 response

The Ohio National Guard and Ohio State Defense Force have transitioned from the emergency COVID-19 response that began in March 2020 to a smaller, yet flexible, response force of about 40 personnel, who will continue providing logistics and vaccination support.

179th AW selected as preferred location for Air National Guard’s first cyber warfare wing

The Department of the Air Force announced Aug. 25 that it has identified Ohio’s Mansfield-Lahm Air National Guard Base as the preferred location for the first ANG cyber warfare wing in the country, which will lead to 175 more Airmen and increased infrastructure at the base.

Meet Tech. Sgt. Jordan Hopson of the 121st Air Refueling Wing — the Ohio Air National Guard’s Recruiter of the Year — who facilitated 79 enlistments in federal fiscal year 2020, the most in the entire Air National Guard.

Ohio Air National Guard Capt. Ohio Air National Guard pilot wins cross-country jet race

“Slow F-84 Jet Wins Dash Across U.S.” was the newspaper headline that announced Lt. Col. James Poston of the 166th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron as the winner of the 1955 Ricks Memorial Trophy race that took place on July 2, 1955. Poston raced the 1,945 miles from Ontario, Calif. to Detroit in 3 hours, 32 minutes at an average speed of 546 miles per hour in a F84E “Thunderjet.”
