Ohio National Guard and Ohio State Defense Force assisted 14 food banks and regional warehouses across Ohio, and received, packed and distributed more than 150 million pounds of food and groceries to over 2.9 million Ohioans in all 88 counties.

ONG concludes 16-month mission supporting food banks

Ohio National Guard supported the Ohio Department of Health and Ohio Emergency Management Agency to identify potential sites, such as convention centers, for use as alternate care facilities (ACF) to provide medical capacity expansion, if needed. Teams conducted 48 assessments in 28 counties, resulting in the selection of six ACF locations throughout the state.

Ohio National Guard supported the Federal Correctional Institution, Elkton, in Columbiana County, with medical services and equipment.

Ohio National Guard and Ohio State Defense Force supported the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction at more than 20 facilities with various resources to include staffing augmentation, medical care and erection of temporary housing.

Gov. Mike DeWine approved a plan to help the Cuyahoga County Corrections Center (CCCC) with temporary staffing assistance from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) and the Ohio Military Reserve in response to a request from Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish due to staffing shortages at the jail from a re-emergence of COVID-19 cases.

12.23.2021   Governor announces plan to help Cuyahoga County Corrections Center with staffing

Ohio National Guard members support the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction in response to confirmed COVID-19 cases at the Pickaway Correctional Institution, Orient, Ohio. 20 Airmen of the 200th RED HORSE Squadron, Camp Perry, Ohio, work with 10 soldiers from the 16th Engineer Brigade, to stand up the Disaster Relief Bed-down Sets, Apr. 18, 2020. The DRBS will help to provide additional sanitized living quarters, showers and latrines for inmates to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Ohio National Guard have supported the Ohio Department of Health at the state’s receive, store and stage warehouse to receive and repackage the COVID-19 vaccine for distribution.

MISSION BEGAN: 12.20.2021  |  ONGOING  |  DEPLOYED: Approximately 2,300 Members** | CURRENT Hospital Locations
Gov. Mike DeWine ordered the Ohio National Guard to help relieve the hospital staffing strain caused by the rising number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients. Of the total mobilized Guard members, approximately 150 are highly-trained medical professionals and will help meet critical needs at hospitals and testing locations. The remaining Guard members will help with patient transport, housekeeping and food services.

The Ohio National Guard has either already been or will soon be deployed to support several hospital systems in Ohio, either in clinical or nonclinical roles. The Ohio Department of Health and Ohio Hospital Association continue to monitor and adjust these efforts, as our workforce and program is agile.
