OPERATION: Military Kids Youth Program Specialist

Operation: Military Kids (OMK)
Initiative conceived and designed in January 2004 to support “Suddenly” Military Kids thru activities and programming specifically targeted to Youth of the guard and reserve component directly affected by the Global War on Terror. Ohio became an OMK State officially in March of 2005. Since its inception, OMK has been involved with and supported every event/activity executed by Ohio's Youth Program.

Click on the Camp for more information! Camp Kelleys Island (August 8-12, 2011 Kelleys Island, Ohio) registration for youth ages 9-15 will open MARCH 1, 2011! Hero Camp - Exploration Adventure (March 26, 2011, The Great Lakes Science Center, Cleveland, Ohio) Open to military youth ages 5-12, cost is FREE! Parents you can register for the STRONG FAMILIES WORKSHOP here as well! Hero Camp Exploration Adventure Military Teen Leadership Camp (April 8-10, 2011, The Hilton Polaris, Columbus, The Mohican Lodge, Perrysville and The Nuhop Center, Ashland, Ohio) Open to military teens ages 12-17, cost is $25 per camper. Military Teen Leadership Camp Hero Camp - Sports Sampler (July 28, 2011, The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio) Open to military youth ages 5-12, cost is FREE! Parents you can register for the STRONG FAMILIES WORKSHOP here as well! Hero Camp Sports Sampler Troop and Family Camp (August 19-21, 2011, Camp Patmos, Kelleys Island, Ohio) Open to all Active, Reserve and Guard military families in Ohio. Cost is $50 per family of 4 ($10 per additional family members) August 2011 Troop and Family Camp Troop and Family Camp (September 9-11, 2011, YMCA Camp Kern, Oregonia, Ohio) Open to all Active, Reserve and Guard military families in Ohio. Ever been to your Zoo's Military Family Day? Now is your chance!
All Military Families are invited to attend any of the zoo events throughout the year. Spend the day, the afternoon or just the evening with your family at this special event designed to bring your family together with other Military Families.
Be sure to visit our Military Family Hospitality Station for food, drinks and fun for all Military Families but don't forget to plan enough time to take advantage of everything else the zoo has to offer.

Most zoos offer a reduced admission price for service members & their Families. HOW: Tickets will be available at the gate. SOMK is a community service opportunity for military and non-military youth to establish a speakers bureau to advocate for military connected youth affected by the Global War on Terrorism.
