Dana McDaniel (left), a brigadier general in the Ohio Army National Guard and the Dublin, Ohio deputy city manager and director of economic development, accepts a Lifetime Achievement Award from Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) co-founder Lou Zacharilla at the annual ICF awards luncheon June 7, 2013, in New York City. McDaniel was recognized for a career that has included helping develop a regional high-speed Internet network to boost economic development and establishing the city's first entrepreneurial center, a program that has averaged nearly 20 new start-up companies per year since 2007.

Eight Soldiers earned their EIB (Expert Infantryman Badge) at a qualification event held June 9-13, 2013, at Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center, near Newton Falls, Ohio. Just eight out of more than 120 active-duty and National Guard infantry Soldiers who went through the evaluation achieved success: 1st Lt. Matthew Viers (from left), Spc. Douglas Bouillon, Spc. Justin Hyde, Sgt. Cory Mescher, Sgt. Jeffery Rush, 2nd Lt. Matthew LaFleur, Staff Sgt. Sean McGreevy and Spc. Jacob Langdon.

The Ohio National Guard's Soldier, Airman and Noncommissioned Officers of the Year were honored during a series of events June 10-11, 2013, including a visit to the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus (pictured). Ohio's top troops also were honored with a reception and dinner, as well as tours of the Ohio History Center and Motts Military Museum.
