Ohio Military Reserve helping collect PPE, medical donations during COVID-19 pandemic

Ohio Military Reserve Sgt. Michael Pursley operates a forklift to move personal protective equipment, or PPE, used to reduce exposure to biological hazards, including the coronavirus, April 14, 2020, at the Col. Robert Haubrich Armory in Columbus, Ohio. Members of the Ohio Military Reserve have been supporting the Ohio Emergency Management Agency and Ohio Department of Health with the state’s collection of PPE donations, which includes medical gloves, surgical gowns, N95 respirator masks and face shields, for redistribution to health care personnel and others serving on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chief, National Guard Bureau visits Ohio

The America Strong campaign is a collaborative salute of aircraft flyovers conducted by Navy and Air Force units nationwide to recognize health care professionals, first responders, military service members and other essential personnel working on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Easing the Burden: Ohio National Guard assists with mass food distribution event for citizens in need

Sgt. Ohio National Guard’s Task Force Honor trained for worst-case scenario during COVID-19 peak

As of early May 10, more than 1,200 Ohioans had died from COVID-19, affecting not just the lives of those who have had to say goodbye to their loved ones, but those working in funeral homes and hospital morgues who have the responsibility of caring for those loved ones after death. In this time of distress and mourning, a specialized team from the Ohio Air National Guard was activated and put on standby to assist these organizations with the dignified transport and respectful care of those who have passed, if the demand came to the point of overwhelming the conventional system.

Behavioral Health Team initiates new, robust suicide prevention training program

The Ohio Army National Guard Behavioral Health Team has initiated a suicide prevention training program based in part on findings from an ongoing, 12-year longitudinal study of the organization’s members that assesses military and civilian factors related to mental health risk and resilience. The program is called First Line Leader Training, and its focus is on teaching key leaders how to better connect with their people.
