Maj. Gen. Camp presides over oath of enlistment ceremony at 180 FW
Maj. Gen. James R. Camp, Ohio assistant adjutant general for Air, administers the oath of enlistment to a group of Airmen and new recruits Oct. 2. 2021, at the 180th Fighter Wing in Swanton, Ohio. The oath is administered by a commissioned officer, and a new or extended enlistment contract usually incurs a commitment of four to six years of active service.
2 Ohio National Guard members honored with 2021 NGAUS awards
The National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS) recently announced Ohio Army National Guard Chief Warrant Officer 2 Deena Ratliff (left) as a winner of the Eagle Rising Award for Army National Guard warrant officers and Capt. Jill Hoffman as a recipient of its Theodore Roosevelt Leadership Award for junior officers. The awards were presented during the 143rd annual NGAUS General Conference & Exhibition Aug. 27-30, 2021, in Las Vegas, Nev.

Hispanic heritage instills hard work, importance of inclusion for veteran Airman
Lt. Col. Albito Lopez, a communications officer and 33-year veteran of the Air Force and Ohio Air National Guard, learned the value of family and hard work from his parents, who moved to the United States from Puerto Rico as children in the 1950s. 174th ADA Brigade completes European security mission
The 174th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, led by Col. James McCandless (left, foreground) and Command Sgt. Maj. Army National Guard ADA brigades deploy to Europe for nine-month rotations as part of the European Deterrence Initiative’s regionally allocated forces and are based primarily in Germany, however the units support various missions throughout the European theatre as needed during their rotation.
Ohio ARNG transportation units answer Louisiana’s call following Hurricane Ida
About 170 Ohio Army National Guard members from several units within the 112th Transportation Battalion were among the approximately 3,500 National Guard members from multiple states who answered Louisiana’s call for assistance after Hurricane Ida left a path of destruction through the southern state in late August.

Ohio high schools continue to honor military

Since 2011, the Ohio Army National Guard, in partnership with the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association, has supported schools hosting military appreciation games through a program called Operation Buckeye Guard, with schools being able to choose from a variety of options including wearing the camo jerseys during one of their home games. Reynoldsburg is among the nearly 450 schools in seven divisions that have qualified for the 50th annual postseason playoffs, which run Oct. 29- Dec. 4.

Members of the 121st Air Refueling Wing and 1st Battalion, 137th Aviation Regiment assist members of the Tennessee National Guard’s 164th Airlift Wing with loading equipment and supplies into a C-17 Globemaster III Oct. 26, 2017, at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base in Columbus, Ohio. Soldiers from the 1-137th were deploying to Puerto Rico to assist in Hurricane Maria recovery operations. The Ohio Air National Guard has nearly 400 Airmen supporting logistics missions across four flying wings in the state, each with their own airframe.
