Military among honorees during Memorial Tournament’s annual ‘Salute to Service’ day

Ohio National Guard celebrates Army’s 247th birthday
Senior Ohio Army National Guard leadership hosted a ceremony to celebrate the Army birthday June 14, 2022, at the Maj. Gen. S. Beightler Armory in Columbus, Ohio. Established in 1775, more than a year before the Declaration of Independence, the Army marks its 247th birthday this year.

Korea vet receives Purple Heart posthumously

Lilley, June 14, 2022, in Westerville, Ohio. A Korean War veteran, Army Pfc. Jack E. Lilley, 19, died July 20, 1950, when the enemy forced his unit to retreat from Taejon, South Korea. His remains were identified just recently, utilizing improved DNA identification processes.

121st ARW helps 'shape' new standards for aviator career fields
The 121st Air Refueling Wing is the only National Guard unit that is part of an Air Force-wide study to modernize height and body composition standards for enlisted aviator career fields, something that has not been done in over 50 years.
Camp James A. Garfield: 2022 military deer hunt drawing
The application deadline for the Nov. 12, 2022, controlled deer hunt at Camp James A. Garfield Joint Military Training Center is Aug. 12. All active, Reserve and retired service members are eligible to apply for the random drawing. This is the only controlled deer hunt scheduled for 2022 at the installation.
Buckeye Guard online publication: Inside the revised Army Combat Fitness Test
This spring the Army issued a directive outlining a time-phased implementation of a revised Army Combat Fitness Test as the service branch’s general physical fitness test, including new age- and gender-performance scoring scales. Active Guard Reserve Soldiers are to begin taking the ACFT for record this October, followed by other Reserve and National Guard Soldiers in April 2023. Engineers help improve road infrastructure in Wayne National Forest
Soldiers with the 1191st Engineer Company, based in Portsmouth, Ohio, conducted heavy equipment operations during annual training this June in the Wayne National Forest, near Ironton, Ohio.
