174th ADA Soldiers immerse themselves in Ohio’s Civil War history during visit

Soldiers from the 174th Air Defense Artillery Brigade’s Task Force Sheridan take a group photo on Burnside’s Bridge at Antietam National Military Park near Sharpsburg, Md., Oct. 7, 2022. The Soldiers conducted a battlefield tour to gain insights into the September 1862 Battle of Antietam and understand how the lessons and insights of history are applicable to current operations. Task Force Sheridan is currently mobilized to the National Capital Region in support of Operation Noble Eagle.

Gen. Andrew Poppas (left), commanding general of U.S. Army Forces Command, presents the Walter T. Kerwin Jr. Readiness Award to the Ohio Army National Guard’s 2nd Squadron, 107th Cavalry Regiment Oct. 10, 2022, during the Association of the Unites States Army 2022 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The award is presented annually to the most outstanding Army National Guard unit nationwide, based on criteria including achieving high standards in readiness, training and supply operations.

Special Forces readiness center renamed for Soldier killed in Iraq

The Sgt. 1st Class Daniel B. Crabtree Special Forces Facility is rededicated Oct. 15, 2022, at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base in Columbus, Ohio. The existing readiness center for Company B, 2nd Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group was renamed to honor Crabtree, a former member of the unit who died in 2006 when an improvised explosive device struck his vehicle during his deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Top Air National Guard enlisted leader visits all four Ohio wings

Chief Master Sgt. Maurice L. Williams, command chief master sergeant of the Air National Guard, speaks to enlisted Airmen of the 121st Air Refueling Wing Oct. 16, 2022, at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base in Columbus, Ohio. During October and November, Williams traveled to all four Ohio Air National Guard wings, touring facilities, spending time with Airmen and hosting town halls to discuss a variety of topics important to the force.
