In Through the Lens, members of the 178th Security Police Flight train on Military Operations on Urban Terrain (MOUT) techniques in Alpena, Mich. in May 1998; the 122nd Army Band is organized June 1, 1944, as the 37th Infantry Division Band while stationed on Bougainville during World War II; and Connection to the Collections features the uniform insignia of Chief Warrant Officer Henry N. Monaco, who served as the bandmaster for the 37th Infantry Division Band from 1958 to 1964.

83rd Ohio Adjutant General says farewell to the members of the Ohio National Guard

Maj. Gen. John C. Harris Jr., Ohio adjutant general, presents his final command message to Ohio National Guard members, their families and the citizens of Ohio. Harris is joined by his wife, Angela, as they reflect on their time in service. He is culminating a 44-year career in the Ohio Army National Guard, having served as adjutant general since 2019. Harris will turn over command of the Ohio National Guard to Brig. Gen. Matthew S. Woodruff, who currently serves as the assistant adjutant general for Army. The Ohio Channel will televise the change of command ceremony, immediately followed by a retirement ceremony for Harris, beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025.

The 2025 Ohio Air National Guard Outstanding Airmen of the Year award winners stand with senior leaders during a recognition ceremony in Columbus, Ohio, Jan.11, 2025. The event honored selected Airmen who demonstrated outstanding leadership, strong work ethic and commitment to their community, state and nation.

Aviation Soldiers honor Maj. Gen. Harris following his final flight

Soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 137th Aviation Regiment greet and form an honor cordon for Maj. Gen. John C. Harris Jr., Ohio adjutant general, after his final official military flight in recognition of his service and leadership, at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base in Columbus, Ohio, May 17, 2025. Harris, a senior Army aviator, has logged more than 1,220 flight hours in the AH-1 Cobra, UH-1 Iroquois and OH-58 Kiowa helicopters. From 1990 to 1995, he served as a company commander and personnel officer in the former 2nd Battalion, 137th Aviation Regiment. Harris is retiring after 44 years of service in the Ohio Army National Guard.
