SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (03-20-2015) — Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives John Boehner visited Springfield Air National Guard Base on March 20 to learn about the missions of the 178th Wing and meet with Airmen.
Maj. Gen. Mark Bartman, Ohio adjutant general, Col. Gregory Schnulo, 178th Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Ottis LeMaster, 178th Wing command chief, and other key Airmen briefed Boehner on the base’s missions while they toured the facilities. Boehner was provided insight on the178th Operations Group and the wing’s cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
“We are honored to have the Speaker of the House visit our base,” Schnulo said. “It was great to show him some our unique capabilities.”
Boehner represents Ohio’s 8th Congressional District, which encompasses the Springfield Air National Guard Base, so he said he wanted to also take time and speak with his Airman-constituents. In an open forum, Boehner answered questions on a wide variety of topics, from policies to sports.
