NEWTON FALLS, Ohio (2/27/16) — Soldiers in the field feeding section of Company D, 128th Support Battalion in Hamilton, Ohio underwent an evaluation by the Department of the Army for the Phillip A. Connelly Awards Program Feb, 27, 2016, at Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center. The Connelly Awards recognize excellence in the preparation and service of food in dining facilities and during field kitchen operations.

Soldiers in the 92G military occupational specialty now boast the name of “culinary specialists” rather than food service personnel. Recently, the Army officially changed the job title to better reflect the transformation of the MOS over the years. Other service branches already use the title, which also better aligns with the civilian service industry. In this video clip featuring Ohio Army National Guard culinarians, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Michael Langille, of the Army’s Joint Culinary Center of Excellence in Fort Lee, Va., explains further.
