COVERAGE OF OHIO AID IN HARVEY AFTERMATH |

The Ohio National Guard has answered the call for assistance from the state of Texas through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC). Fourteen Soldiers and two CH-47 Chinook helicopters from the Ohio Army National Guard's Company B, 3rd Battalion, 238th Aviation Regiment are in Texas, ready to transport personnel, equipment and supplies. Airmen from the Ohio Air National Guard's 178th Wing are also providing support to the Lone Star State in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. (Sgt. Andrew Kuhn and Stephanie Beougher, ONG) |

State, federal officials still checking toxic sites flooded by HarveyBy Allie Morris, Austin Bureau | San Antonio Express-News | September 5, 2017 AUSTIN — Gov. Greg Abbott said state and federal authorities are still checking all the hazardous waste sites affected by flooding from Harvey. But Abbott said he has assurances from federal officials that none of the 11 affected Superfund sites still to be checked by the Environmental Protection Agency “pose any damage or danger to the public that is known at this time.” |
