GAHANNA, Ohio (10/28/18) — About 50 Soldiers from the Ohio National Guard’s Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 174th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, headquartered in Columbus, are deploying to Germany. They were honored during a call to duty ceremony Oct. 28 at Gahanna Lincoln High School.

The Soldiers are deploying in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. The unit will provide supervisory oversight of short-range air defense artillery formations stationed in Europe, as part of the European Deterrence Initiative.

This is the first overseas mobilization of the headquarters. However, portions of the unit have deployed as task force headquarters to the National Capital Region in 2009-2010 (Task Force Phoenix), 2012-2013 (Task Force Luzon) and 2017-2018 (Task Force Guthrie Grays).
