Ceremony signifies transition of assistant adjutants general for Army
A January change of command ceremony signified the transition from the outgoing assistant adjutant general for Army, Brig. Gen. Thomas E. Moore II, to the incoming one, Brig. Gen. Matthew S. Woodruff. Moore, a Cumberland, Ohio native, retires after a 33-year military career that includes service both on active duty and in the Ohio Army National Guard. ~ Video by Staff Sgt. Best of the Buckeye State: Outstanding Airmen of the Year
Five members of the Ohio Air National Guard took home honors in their respective rank categories during the 2023 Outstanding Airman of the Year Awards banquet at the Clark State College’s Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center in Springfield, Ohio. The annual awards recognize Airmen who go above and beyond, including demonstrating leadership, strong work ethic and commitment to giving back to their communities. ~ Video by Staff Sgt. A Day in the Life: Ohio National Guard historian
As the historian for the Ohio National Guard, Sgt. 1st Class Joshua Mann has a unique position at Joint Force Headquarters-Ohio, located at the Maj. Gen. Robert S. Beightler Armory. Mann’s duties include being the curator of the organization’s historical collection, which includes photographing objects for accountability, preservation needs and for use in publications and educational presentations. ~ Video & photo by Spc. 73rd Troop Command BWC determines brigade’s top NCO, Soldier
The Ohio Army National Guard’s 73rd Troop Command conducted its Best Warrior Competition in November at Camp James A. Garfield Joint Military Training Center in Newton Falls, Ohio. The competitors spent two physically and mentally demanding days where they were tested on Army Warrior Tasks, which included medical, radio, stress shoot, weapons skills and land navigation knowledge, as well as an Army Combat Fitness Test, 6-mile ruck march and written exam. ~ Video by Spc. OSU Military Appreciation Game honors military, veterans
Ohio National Guard members were among those honored during The Ohio State University football team’s annual Military Appreciation Game last fall in conjunction with Veterans Day weekend events. A contingent of current service members and veterans from all branches were in attendance during the Buckeyes’ 43-30 victory over Maryland at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. ~ Video & photo by Staff Sgt. HISTORICAL HIGHLIGHT
2-372nd Infantry leaves for World War II service
In March 1941, the 2nd Battalion, 372nd Infantry was inducted into federal service. The all-Black unit was the final formation in the state to enter active duty in response to the growing war in Europe.
