37th IBCT, Hungarian Defence Forces conduct bilateral training during JRTC rotation

Marathon team finishes 2nd at 2021 National Guard Marathon Time Trials; 6 runners named to elite All-Guard Marathon Team
Building on success and momentum that garnered a third-place finish in 2020, the Ohio National Guard Marathon Team earned second at this year’s National Guard Time Trials, with six Ohio runners being named to the elite All-Guard Marathon Team.

179th AW selected as preferred location for Air National Guard’s first cyber warfare wing
The Department of the Air Force announced Aug. 25 that it has identified Ohio’s Mansfield-Lahm Air National Guard Base as the preferred location for the first ANG cyber warfare wing in the country. The transformation will support Air Combat Command’s future requirements and result in operational mission changes, including an increase of about 175 Airmen and associated infrastructure support at the base

121st Airman is Ohio Air National Guard Recruiter of Year
Tech. Sgt. Jordan Hopson of the 121st Air Refueling Wing is the Ohio Air National Guard’s Recruiter of the Year, facilitating 79 enlistments in federal fiscal year 2020, the most in the entire Air National Guard. After being a member of the 121st Security Forces Squadron for the first five years of his career, he decided he wanted to become a recruiter so he could give back to the wing and to the ANG and help others share in some of the experiences and opportunities the Guard has given him, he said.

Rodger Young during a dedication ceremony Aug. 29, 2021, at the Ohio Veterans’ Memorial Park in Clinton, Ohio. Young was a member of Company B, 148th Infantry, 37th Infantry Division when he was killed in action July 31, 1943, while destroying a Japanese machine gun nest on the island of New Georgia during World War II. Young was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in 1944. The marker was dedicated near the Medal of Honor memorial at the park and was sponsored by the members of the Akron Chapter.
