Educating the educators: Learning more about the Ohio National Guard
A group of about 30 Ohio high school teachers, guidance counselors and administrators spent a day with Ohio National Guard personnel at the Army Aviation Support Facility #1 to gain a better understanding of the ONG and its missions, May 4, 2022, in North Canton, Ohio. Educators also got to participate in hands-on experiences with weapons and military vehicles and were briefed on free programs available to their schools, as well as jobs and benefits available to their students through service in ONG.
Ohio National Guard helps support National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The Ohio National Guard Counterdrug Program supported the DEA during the event by collecting expired drugs, syringes, medical records and other unwanted medications and transporting them for incineration and safe disposal.
Buckeye Soldiers on winning National Guard team at Lincoln Marathon Rucksack Relay
The National Guard All-Guard Endurance Team, comprising members from four states, won the Lincoln Marathon Rucksack Relay May 1, 2022, in Lincoln, Neb., as part of the Lincoln Marathon and Half Marathon. The team — which included Ohio Army National Guard Sgt. 1st Class Jerrod Abel (left), Sgt. 1st Class Chris Edwards (third from left), Spc. Nate Sink (fifth from left) and Capt. Lauren Meyer (third from right) — finished in first place with a time of 3 hours, 51 minutes, 40 seconds, almost 25 minutes faster than the second-place team.
Governor hosts 42nd Annual Holocaust Commemoration in Cincinnati
Maj. Gen. John C. Harris, Ohio adjutant general, presents 97-year-old retired Command Sgt. Maj. Henry Armstrong a military challenge coin at The Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center, May 9, 2022, in Cincinnati. Armstrong served during World War II and took part in the liberation of Gunskirchen Lager, a Jewish concentration camp in Austria. The presentation was part of the 42nd Annual Governor’s Holocaust Commemoration.

Williams, an Ohio Army National Guard officer for about 20 years, is currently assigned as the vice director of operations (cyber), National Guard Bureau, Arlington, Va., and in her civilian occupation is a cybersecurity adviser for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

Support of Ohio National Guard, State Defense Force members proved critical to hospitals during recent COVID-19 spike
Ohio National Guard members help manage inventory Dec. 29, 2021, at Mount Carmel East in Columbus, Ohio. The staffing support provided by members of the ONG and State Defense Force was the helping hand that many hospitals and communities needed during the spike of COVID-19 cases around the state from December into early this year. More than 2,000 Ohio National Guard members were deployed to 18 COVID-19 testing centers and 62 hospitals across Ohio as part of clinical and general support teams.
State command chief warrant officer fully immersing himself in new role
As the fifth Ohio Army National Guard state command chief warrant officer, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Richard Kerwood is now charged with leading the OHARNG Warrant Officer Cohort, as well as recruiting new candidates into the ranks.

The 2023 Region IV competition will be hosted by the Ohio Army National Guard.
