121st ARW helps 'shape' new standards for aviator career fields
The 121st Air Refueling Wing is the only National Guard unit that is part of an Air Force-wide study to modernize height and body composition standards for enlisted aviator career fields, something that has not been done in over 50 years.

State legislators participate in orientation flight, tour
Ohio legislators and their staff gather for an orientation flight and familiarization tour Aug. 12, 2022, at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter flight, conducted by members of the 1-137th Aviation Regiment, attendees also received presentations and viewed static displays from the Ohio Homeland Response Force, 52nd Civil Support Team and Company B, 2-19th Special Forces Group. Orientation events provide an opportunity to educate key external stakeholders about the Ohio National Guard’s missions and capabilities.
Air Force names Ohio ANG member one of 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year
Senior Airman Kristina Schneider, a fire protection journeyman at the 179th Airlift Wing in Mansfield, Ohio, has been named one of the Air Force's 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year for 2022. The Outstanding Airman Program annually recognizes 12 enlisted members across commands, components and branches within the Air Force for superior leadership, job performance, community involvement and personal achievements. To be one of The 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year is a huge accomplishment for any Airman, but Schneider's story is exceptionally unique and inspirational, as she joined the Air National Guard one day before turning 40, which is the current maximum age limit for Air Force enlistment.

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best: Ohio Homeland Response Force trains for variety of disasters

State command chief bids farewell after over 30 years in Ohio ANG
Chief Master Sgt. Heidi Bunker, the 11th command chief master sergeant of the Ohio Air National Guard, retires after 31 years in the military including serving since January 2020 as the state's top enlisted Airman. In her farewell message, Bunker says she has "immense feelings of awe and gratitude for having the great pleasure of serving" alongside her fellow Airmen.
