POW/MIA logoNational POW/MIA Recognition Day

According to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, more than 82,000 American military personnel are missing from conflicts dating back to World War II. These brave men and women answered the call of duty to serve their country, and today we reflect on their sacrifice.

Each year on the third Friday of September, we commemorate National POW/MIA Recognition Day. Observances will be held at schools, veterans' facilities, military bases and other locations across the country.
You may find more information at the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency website.

I hope you'll join me in pausing today to remember our military brethren who were held captive by the enemy or are missing after the fight. We must never forget.
