About 50 veterans of the Cincinnati-based 147th Infantry Regiment gather for their annual reunion Oct. 6, 2017, at the Paul Vail Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4369 in Sharonville, Ohio. Organized in 1854 as the Guthrie Grays, the 147th Infantry consisted of units in Southwest Ohio until it was reorganized as an armor unit in 1994. Today, the 174th Air Defense Artillery Regiment perpetuates the lineage of this historic unit, which has seen active service in the Civil War, War with Spain, World War I, World War II, Korean War and the War on Terrorism.

Airmen from the 200th RED HORSE Squadron work on a drainage system for the reverse osmosis water purification unit at the University of the Virgin Islands Soccer Field, Oct. 10, 2017, in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. The RED HORSE (Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineer) team of about 25 Ohio National Guard Airmen have been on the island since Sept. 13, following Hurricane Irma, and have constructed tents, latrines, showers, and a laundry area for Soldiers and Airmen who are supporting continuing relief efforts.

A KC-135 Stratotanker from the Ohio Air National Guard’s 121st Air Refueling Wing refuels a B-1B Lancer assigned to the 37th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron during a sequenced multilateral mission with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and Republic of Korea air force Oct. 10, 2017, in the vicinity of the Sea of Japan. Three Army health care specialists assigned to the 285th Medical Company (Area Support) prepare a triage station on a residential street Oct. 21, 2017, in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico. Ohio National Guard medical personnel worked with the Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) to organize an outreach program to provide care to members of the community who couldn't travel to the aid station set up in Ponce. The Rapid Assessment Team (RAT) is staffed similarly to a civilian urgent care in the U.S., including doctors, pharmacists and other medical personnel.
