178th Wing Airmen deploy in support of U.S. Central Command

Airmen assigned to the Ohio Air National Guard’s 178th Wing stand at attention, along with family and friends during a call to duty ceremony March 6, 2022, in Springfield, Ohio. The contingent of Airmen were deploying to support U.S. Central Command operations for approximately six months.

Ohio Army National Guard readiness center in Portsmouth first of nearly two dozen planned facility upgrades across state

Maj. Gen. John C. Harris Jr. (right), Ohio adjutant general, and Capt. David W. Klepcyk, 1191st Engineer Company commander, unveil a plaque during the rededication ceremony for the Sgt. Edward S. The facility underwent a two-year, $1.8-millon renovation that included new perimeter fencing; masonry repairs; new windows, roofs and doors; lighting upgrades; and a fully renovated kitchen.

PaYS program partners with civilian employers to provide opportunities

Brig. Gen. Thomas E. Moore II (left), Ohio assistant adjutant general for Army, and Jim Krancevic, vice president of human resources for Konecranes Inc., officiated a signing ceremony for the Army’s Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) program March 15, 2022, at the Konecranes facility in Springfield, Ohio. Through PaYS, eligible National Guard and Reserve Soldiers who complete basic combat training and advanced individual training are guaranteed to get up to five job interviews of their choosing from more than 1,000 PaYS partners nationwide.

New Ohio ANG chief of staff promoted to brigadier general

The family of Brig. Gen. David B. Johnson, new Ohio Air National Guard chief of staff, pins on his one-star rank insignia during a promotion ceremony March 18, 2022, at the Maj. Gen. Robert S. Beightler Armory in Columbus, Ohio. Johnson, who previously commanded the 121st Air Refueling Wing, succeeds retiring Brig. Gen. Rebecca O’Connor, who had served in the position since 2018.

Capt. Zachary Brewington (from left), Sgt. 1st Class Matthew Bradshaw, Lt. Col. Bret Gould and Staff Sgt. Roumel Arrozal, members of the Ohio National Guard’s Marksmanship Team, won the Infantry Team Memorial Trophy during the 51st Winston P. Wilson Rifle and Pistol Championship March 25-31, 2022, at Camp Robinson, Ark. Top shooters from each state attend the matches held annually by the National Guard Marksmanship Training Center at Camp Robinson.
