Guard members teach self-defense to women in Serbia

Staff Sgt. Brittany Robertson (left) instructs two students during self-defense training conducted this spring in Vranje, Serbia. Robertson was one of three female Ohio National Guard members who taught basic self-defense and combatives techniques to a group of Serbian women who have been victims of domestic violence. The training included how to throw a punch properly, situational awareness, grappling, jujitsu and boxing, while also helping empower and improve students’ overall confidence.

Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month

Airmen at the 178th Wing participate in National Denim Day to honor Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month April 24, 2019, at Springfield-Beckley Air National Guard Base in Springfield, Ohio. Recognized on the last Wednesday in April, the national observance promotes wearing denim as an international symbol of protest against destructive attitudes about sexual assault.

178th Logistics Readiness Squadron keeps the wing going

Senior Airman Kimberly Sheridan, a materials handler with the 178th Logistics Readiness Squadron, inventories protective masks after performing cleaning and maintenance on them. Through functions including supply distribution and materiel management, the 178th LRS plays a key role in ensuring the wing’s Airmen are equipped and resourced for mission success.

178th Security Forces defenders brave cold to keep base safe

A member of the 178th Wing Security Forces shovels snow at the Springfield Air National Guard Base during the weekend of Jan. 12-13, 2019, in Springfield, Ohio. Between 2 to 4 inches of snow hit Ohio during the first winter storm of the season, with approximately 5-10 inches more of snow predicted for the following weekend.

Celebrating Women’s History Month: Motherhood in the Military

Senior Airman Patrice Brown, a member of the 178th Force Support Squadron in Springfield, Ohio, smiles as she holds her daughter, Zoe. Brown, who enlisted in the Ohio Air National Guard in 2012, said she learned over time how to balance her role as an Airman with that of a mother when Zoe was born in 2017.
